General Information (For Indoor Soccer rules and a field diagram see below)

Soccer is intended to be played continuously without disruptions, except when indicated by the referee when there is an out of bounds, a penalty or someone is injured on the field. Coaches are not allowed to call time outs. Referees may stop play at any time. If a coach needs play to stop they should gather the attention of the referee who will make this call. Coaches are responsible for the conduct and behavior of the team players parents and coaches. Please help us in making each game a good lasting memory for all the players.

Uniforms:

All teams must wear the uniform provided by AZ Sports. This includes the jersey, shorts and socks. Players that are not wearing the complete uniform may be asked by the referee not to participate. If a uniform is lost, a replacement may be purchased from AZ Sports.

Shin Guards:

Shinguards are required for all age divisions and for the safety of all players. Each player must adhere to this policy, no exceptions. All players will undergo a uniform check at the beginning of each game to ensure this policy is being adhered to. If you need shinguards the day of the game, please see the Field Coordinator for AZ Sports.

Ball Handling:

Hands are not allowed except for the goalkeeper who is allowed to their hands in the goalie’s box. Players are not recommended to “head the ball” as this is quite dangerous for players at a young age. However it is not a rule that they may not, simply a suggestion.

Shoes:

Closed-toed shoes are required for play on the field. For outdoors, Soccer cleats with rubber bottoms are acceptable. NO Metal cleats or other sport cleats (example football or baseball). For Indoor Soccer or other Indoor Sports only rubber soled shoes are allowed, no cleats or other spiked shoes.

Weather:

During certain times of the year, weather may play a role in determining game dates and times. If it is raining play will be suspended. However, remember that although it may be raining at your home it may not be raining at the field. The Field Coordinator will have discretion in canceling games and they will notify coaches through email and phone calls.

Substitutions:

Players can be substituted at any time. However the player on the field must be completely off the field before the replacement player may come onto the field.

Injured Players:

If a player becomes injured during the game, the referee will stop the game. The coaches and the referee will determine the extent of the injury if needed will call emergency services or remove the player from the field and continue with play.

Sideline and Goal lines:

Parents are to remain 6 feet from the sidelines. One parent/coach may be behind the goal to assist in coaching the goalie. One coach at a time may be on the field directing and coaching players as needed. They are to remain out of the field of play.

Cleanliness:

Please remember that fields are provided to the league out of courtesy. Help us in returning this kindness by keeping all fields and facilities clean and depositing trash in the necessary receptacles.

Slide Tackles:

Slide tackles are not permitted. Coaches will be warned if a player is slide tackling, after one warning the player may be ejected from the game.

Ejection’s and Discipline:

AZ Sports has a strict policy regarding the behavior of coaches. Coaches are responsible for the actions of the parents, players and other team coaches. Please assist us in providing a fun environment for all our children. Coaches that violate this policy will be instructed the following three ways:

  • The coach will be instructed to handle the situation properly and maturely.
  • The Coach will be warned in person or in writing by AZ Sports.
  • The Coach will be subject to suspension.
